DESelect is installed as an Installed Package in your Salesforce Marketing Cloud instance, which is installed via a one-click installation link.

We will also install a set of demo data which can be used for training purposes, or just to familiarize yourself with the possibilities DESelect offers. A list of scenarios that can be performed with this demo data can be found here.
Steps for setting up DESelect
1. Provide the DESelect team with a temporary user
The DESelect team will take care of this setup for you. For this, a temporary Marketing Cloud user is needed with Marketing Cloud Administrator and Administrator roles. Please make sure this user has access to the business units in which DESelect needs to be installed.
Feel free to choose the username and password, but please link the account to email firstname.lastname@example.org. Then, please let us know the credentials.
2. Setup of DESelect by the DESelect team
This setup can happen in 2 ways:
1. Setup by the DESelect team independently
If you send us an email at email@example.com with the credentials of this temporary user and the list of the business units DESelect needs to be installed in, we'll take care of this setup within a few days.
2. Setup on a call
Alternatively, a call can be scheduled with our team to do the setup on a call. Note we'll still need that temporary admin user, but the credentials for that user can be shared at the beginning of the call. We'll do the setup in your org while screen sharing, so you see exactly what's happening. At the end of the call, this user can be deactivated.
Whether we do the setup independently or on a call, we always perform the following steps:
1. Installation of the installed package using the one-click installation link.
2. Creation of a few folders DESelect needs to run correctly.
3. Creation of demo data extensions that will be used during the onboarding training.
4. End-to-end test; we'll create a selection and make sure it runs correctly.
3. Provide us with a user for training and support purposes
The onboarding training is an interactive training, where the DESelect trainer and participants go into DESelect in your org to show how the tool works and build selections together. For this reason, we'd need a Marketing Cloud user, which could be the same one as the one provided for doing the setup or another one. For this user, we'll just need the same permissions as other DESelect users.
Please provide us with this user at least 48 hours before the start of the training session, so we can do some additional preparation.
In order to provide top-notch support, we request a user so we can investigate data extensions, query activities, etc. Ideally, this is the same user as the user provided for training purposes.
During the first 30 days, you are entitled to hyper care, during which we can help investigate differences in results between your old SQL queries and DESelect selections. Besides hyper care, your organisation is likely to have more questions about DESelect when it just starts using it. Therefore, it is recommended that at least during this hyper care period, this support user remains active. Optionally, you could deactivate the user afterward, and only activate it for short periods when we request it related to concrete support questions (note we can provide faster support if we can access your org directly).
