How to resolve “Selected Data Extension [DE Name] cannot be found. Therefore, this selection cannot be opened” error?

The "Selected Data Extension cannot be found" error is typically encountered when DESelect is unable to locate one or more of the Data Extensions used in the Selection. This often occurs because a user may have accidentally deleted one of these Data Extensions. When this happens, the Selection becomes what is known as a broken Selection.

How to resolve this?

You can verify whether the deleted Data Extension is still available in the Recycle Bin. If you find the Data Extension there, you can restore it to its original location. After restoring it, you will be able to open your Selection again.

If you cannot find it there, you can follow the steps below:

1. Create a copy of the deleted Data Extension in its original location, with the same structure (fields) and External Key as the deleted one. In case you do not have the original External Key, you can reach out to support@deselect.com 
2. DESelect will automatically fix the Selection so you can access and modify it if needed.
