How to Retain a Temporary Data Extension’s Policy When Copying from a Template or Selection

When creating a Selection or template in DESelect Segment, you may want to carry over an existing retention policy to your new Target Data Extension.

By default, retention policies can only be applied when creating a brand new Target Data Extension within DESelect Segment. This means that when copying from a Template or Selection, the retention policy is not set during the copy process.
If you need to apply or adjust a retention policy for a Target Data Extension that has already been created:

1. Go to Email Studio in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
2. Locate the Target Data Extension that was created when you copied the Selection or template.
3. Open the Data Extension’s Properties.
4. Manually set or update the Data Retention Policy as needed.
5. Save your changes.

This process allows you to manage retention settings even if they were not set during the copy step in DESelect Segment.
