Too much marketing pressure can have negative consequences on your overall campaign performance and cause subscriber attrition. Eventually, poor results of the campaign can have a negative impact on marketing-generated revenue. However, using DESelect, it is possible to improve campaign performance.
This article will show you how to manage marketing pressure for your future email campaigns using DESelect. Let's proceed!
Scenario 1: How to exclude Subscribers who received an email in the last 7 days?
In this scenario, we are creating a selection that will generate a Query Activity that excludes all the subscribers who received an email in the last 7 days. To access the Query Activities generated by DESelect, refer to this article.
In case there is a need to keep this selection updated, you can either include it in an Automation in Automation Studio or use the scheduling selection feature in DESelect that has been added as an optional step on the below instructions.
- Create a new selection by clicking the New Selection button on the Overview page and name it 'Excluding some Subscribers'.
- In the Available Data Extensions section, choose Data View _Subscribers and drag-and-drop it to the Selected Data Extensions section. Optionally, you can provide an alias for your Selected Data View or just simply click Save.
- In the Available Fields section, drag-and-drop the field SubscriberKey of _Subscribers, select filter type Not In Results, choose _Sent and select field _SubscriberKey to match the main selection.
- Click on the funnel icon for further filtering.
- In the Available Fields section, drag-and-drop the field EventDate of _Sent and select filter type Is after or on, choose Relative function and enter '7' 'Days' 'Ago'.
- Hit Save.
- Optional step: Schedule your selection to automatically run either once or on a recurring basis using the scheduling selections feature.
- Proceed to Target Definition and Preview/Run as you would normally do.
Scenario 2: How to find Subscribers who received more than two communications in the last 7 days?
In this scenario, we are creating a Data Extension that will have all the subscribers who received more than two communications in the last 7 days. The Data Extension can be used as an exclusion list in Automation Studio.
In case there is a need to keep this selection updated, you can either include it in an Automation in Automation Studio or use the scheduling selection feature in DESelect that has been added as an optional step on the below instructions.
- Create a new selection by clicking the New Selection button on the Overview page and name it 'Subscribers to with more than 2 comms'.
- In the Available Data Extensions section, choose Data View _Subscribers and drag-and-drop it to the Selected Data Extensions section. Optionally, you can provide an alias for your Selected Data View or just simply click Save.
- In the Available Fields section, drag-and-drop the field SubscriberKey of _Subscribers, select filter type In Results, choose _Sent and select field _SubscriberKey to match the main selection.
- Click on the funnel icon for further filtering.
- In the Available Fields section, drag-and-drop the field EventDate of _Sent and select filter type Is after or on, choose Relative function and enter '7' 'Days' 'Ago'.
- Also, drag-and-drop the field SubscriberKey, click on the fx icon and choose Count.
- Choose filter type Greater than or equal to, enter '2' and hit Save.
- Hit Save and proceed to the Target Definition step.
- Create a new Target Data Extension and name it 'Subscribers to Exclude'.
- Add all the necessary fields, hit Save Data Extension, and Create.
- Optional step: Schedule your selection to automatically run either once or on a recurring basis using the scheduling selections feature.
- Proceed to Preview/Run as you would normally do.
